Ruth Emers
"Standing Figure" Cherry wood "Venus Greek" Marble Ruth Emers began her studies at Brown University where she received a Degree in Fine Arts in 1972. She furthered her education at Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT, The Carving Studio, Rutland, VT, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Island, Maine, Rhode Island School of Design, Institute Allende, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and studied under renown sculptor Louise Nevelson. Ruth's award winning sculptures are made of carved stone, marble and wood. She was awarded a fellowship to Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA in 2002 and elected to The Copley Society of Boston the same year. She has won awards from the Cambridge Art Association, Warwick Museum, RI, Providence Art Club and was guest lecturer at Rhode Island College in 1981 and in 1983. She is a member of the Providence Art Club, New England Sculptors Association (NESA), Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and The Copley Society.
