Jean Dibner
"Adventure Beckons" "Meditation II" Resin, 10" x 8" x 14" H Jean Dibner, a figurative sculptor working mainly in bronze, possesses a reverence for the medium. "These works have the capability of lasting for two thousand years! I have thought a lot about what kind of images I want to create. I have chosen to portray what is important in life – connections between people, the joys and pain of family living, and the inner spiritual life that sustains us in challenging times." Jean left a 20 year career as a senior executive in hi-tech and has worked intently on her sculpture for the past eight years. She built a strong technical foundation at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and DeCordova Museum. Additionally, she studied under well-known master sculptors Antony Antonius, Eugene Daub, and Simon Kogan. Jean is a juried member of the Copley Society in Boston, The Pen & Brush in New York, the New England Sculpture Association, and the Cambridge Art Association. She has exhibited extensively nationally in galleries and sculpture parks and is in numerous private collections. She has received awards for her work from the New England Academic Artists Association; The Pen & Brush Club in New York, North Charleston, SC Cultural Arts Department; and the Millbrook Gallery and Sculpture Garden in Concord, NH among others. Jean founded the Beaumont Sculpture Center in Newton, MA four years ago as a place for in-depth professional learning and artistic exploration for sculptors.
